What is “2026 is the new 2016”?

It is a wave of nostalgia on social media: people are posting photos in the 2016 style again, with very saturated colors, the famous Rio de Janeiro filter, flower crowns and candid, less polished shots. This tool recreates that look with your own photo.

The colors of 2016

It was the year of millennial pink and rose gold, and Pantone picked two Colors of the Year for the first time: Rose Quartz, a soft pink, and Serenity, a sky blue. Below are those palettes, ready to use.

Frequently asked questions

Are these the real Instagram filters?

No. They are our own recreations inspired by the look of the most popular 2016 filters, like Rio de Janeiro, Valencia and Clarendon.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The photo is edited in your browser and never leaves your device.

What is the camera date?

The orange date in the corner, like old cameras used to print. It shows today’s date, but in 2016.
