How to wear gray
Gray is easy: it goes with white shirts, black sweaters and colorful pieces. A gray coat with a mustard or pink scarf is a safe formula. For shoes, black, white, brown and burgundy all work. An all-gray look in several shades is very elegant.
Gray in home decor
Gray walls make a neutral, modern base. To keep it from feeling cold, add wood, warm textiles and plants. A gray sofa works with pillows in any color: mustard, dusty pink, petrol blue or terracotta. Black or gold metals give it character.
Gray in graphic and web design
Gray is useful in design for secondary text, borders and backgrounds. Watch the contrast: medium gray on white can fall short for small text. Use it as a base and let a single bright color mark your buttons.
What to avoid
Avoid mixing grays with different undertones, like a bluish gray with a greenish one, because they look mismatched. Gray with a very yellow beige can also look dingy.
