Why use a limited palette
With fewer colors, pixel art looks cleaner and more consistent, like classic games. Each color carries more weight, and the art reads better at small sizes.
Color ramps with hue shifting
These palettes are built as ramps: each one goes from dark to light while the hue turns slightly. Shadows get cooler and highlights warmer, a classic trick that makes pixel art feel more alive.
How to import a palette
In Aseprite and GIMP, open the GPL file. In Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, use the PAL. Lospec and many game engines accept the HEX file, a plain list of codes without the # sign.
